We recommend having students take the SSAT at Home at different times to allow individual assistance from parents or guardians and preserve internet bandwidth.

Do I need to close programs on my computer before I start the SSAT at Home?

We highly recommend shutting down all programs and rebooting your computer before you start the test on test day for a smoother testing experience.

Does my computer need to be fully charged for the SSAT at Home?

Make sure your computer is fully charged and plugged in on test day.

How do I install the Secure Browser?

We recommend starting the install of the Secure Browser from the Chrome browser on your PC or Mac after you close all applications and reboot your computer.

How do I remove PowerShell from my computer? (Windows)

If you have PowerShell on your computer, you'll need to remove it to take the SSAT at Home. Here are some steps to follow.

How do I take a break during the SSAT at Home?

Your student will be able to take two (2) scheduled breaks or request an unscheduled break by typing "break" in the proctor chat.

How does the proctoring work for SSAT at Home?

The proctor will connect with your student via a chat window inside the Secure Browser.

I took the SSAT at Home previously and have the Secure Browser installed. Is there anything I should do before testing?

We recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the Secure Browser 30 minutes prior to your next test.

Is there a recommended browser for the SSAT at Home?

Yes, we recommend that you use the Chrome browser on a PC or Mac to access your SSAT account, to run the system check, and to install the Secure Browser.

Can I wear a headset or earphones during my SSAT at Home?

No. Headsets and earphones are not permitted.

Will I have to submit a photo for the SSAT at Home?

No. However, the student will use their webcam during check-in to provide a selfie.

Will I need to download any software in order to take the SSAT at Home?

Yes. You will also be required to download and install a secure browser that is used for testing.

If my computer crashes during the SSAT at Home can I restart?

If you experience a technical problem in any of these areas during the administration of the SSAT at Home, you'll be able to continue testing.

Will someone be monitoring me when I take the SSAT at Home?

Yes. When you are taking the test a remote proctor will ensure you are following all testing rules and be there to answer any questions you have.

What are the system requirements to take the SSAT at Home?
