The SSAT writing sample section varies based on the test level.
Elementary (Grades 3-4)
The writing sample gives students a chance to express themselves by writing a response to a picture prompt. The student is asked to tell a story about an image that includes a beginning, middle, and end.
Middle (Grades 5-7)
Students will write an essay choosing between a creative story starter or a personal question prompt.
Upper (Grades 8-11)
Student will write an essay choosing between a personal or general question prompt.
