ISEE Fee Waivers

We have helped thousands of students take the ISEE to apply and enroll in private schools with fee waivers and equitable access to testing. Please review the fee waiver eligibility requirements below. If you meet the requirements, request a fee waiver directly from a school before registering for the ISEE.

Please note: ISEE fee waivers expire on 7/31/2027

Fee Waiver Eligibility

To receive an ISEE fee waiver from an E3n member school or organization, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The family must be planning to apply for financial aid.
  • Members will determine whether a family qualifies based on their knowledge of their own market (family income and family size). Cost of living varies, but a typical family income threshold of $80,000 for a family of four may apply. Members will collect basic socio-economic information (through a school-developed form, through conversation with the family, or via the financial aid application).
  • Students may receive more than 1 per year.
  • ISEE fee waivers are not available directly from E3n, the provider of the ISEE.

What does an ISEE fee waiver include?

  • Universal ISEE fee waivers provide free registration across all grades for any ISEE testing at a school or testing office or via ISEE at Home (excludes Prometric testing).
  • ISEE fee waivers are valid for domestic and international testing.
  • ISEE fee waivers provide free Online Practice through Test Innovators.
  • ISEE fee waivers cover the registration fee only.
  • Please note that while Universal ISEE fee waivers do not include Prometric testing, select E3n members may make available limited Prometric fee waivers for the ISEE.  These Prometric ISEE fee waivers are only valid for registering for an ISEE Prometric test.
  • Students required to take the Character Skills Snapshot can ask the requiring school for a separate Snapshot fee waiver.
  • Students applying with the Standard Application Online (SAO) can ask schools for a separate SAO waiver.

ISEE Equitable Access

Beyond the ISEE Fee Waiver Program, E3n remains committed to increasing equitable access to the ISEE for families with financial need. To provide as much flexibility as possible, the ISEE program includes multiple testing options, including paper and computer testing at schools or community-based organizations, computer testing at Prometric centers, and ISEE at Home testing.

The ISEE at Home often provides the most flexible access to the ISEE, with practically any computer (Mac or PC), iPad, or Chromebook. This can include devices up to ten years old. Check out the technical requirements for ISEE at Home testing, including both a primary device and a secondary camera device (often a cell phone). If you need help validating that your existing devices work for an at-home test, finding a testing location that works for your family, or other support, please contact us so we can help try to limit barriers to the ISEE.

Preparation from Test Innovators

Get ready for the ISEE with the official practice from Test Innovators—included with a fee waiver. The Test Innovators ISEE practice platform provides students with personalized guidance, so they know exactly what to focus on and how to best prepare.

Get familiar with the test by taking authentic practice tests, target areas for improvement, and learn key test-taking skills.
