Empowering Young Leaders

At King's Academy, we welcome talented students from all backgrounds, religions, and social classes to our peaceful campus in the Jordanian countryside with the aim of fostering empathy, tolerance, and harmony. Our students learn to be independent, creative and responsible thinkers within a nurturing residential community that encourages young men and women of diverse backgrounds to excel, to cherish one another, and to prepare for leadership.

Located between Amman, a vibrant world capital, and Madaba, a small historic city in the heart of Jordan, King's Academy is a school unlike any other in the region—or the world! The Academy was founded by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan—a graduate of Deerfield Academy—with the aim of providing students in the region with an exceptional educational experience. King's blends an American style of education rooted in the liberal arts and sciences with Middle Eastern history, traditions, language, and cultural values.

As HM King Abdullah said: "King's mission is not just to prepare young men and women to succeed in life, but to develop and empower young leaders who will drive change within and beyond their communities, and eventually across borders."

Academics

Grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, our academic program provides opportunities for both breadth and depth of study. We offer AP exams in 24 subjects; a variety of electives in history, religion, and the arts; and our humanities and language courses utilize the Harkness method in alignment with our school’s mission to foster the next generation of leaders.

Athletics

King’s fosters a competitive-collaborative environment where students shine as individuals and learn the value of teamwork competing against other schools and on occasion, the Jordanian National Teams. Our facilities include squash and tennis courts, swimming pool, fitness center, turf fields, tennis courts, and indoor and outdoor multi-purpose courts.

Student Leadership

In the classrooms, on the athletic fields, and in the residential houses, King's Academy students lead in ways large and small. From captaining sports teams to helping lead major philanthropic initiatives like our annual King’s Fest and organizing our annual Model UN conference drawing hundreds of delegates from schools around the region.

Boarding Life

Boarding students live in safe, comfortable, single-gender dorms with round-the-clock supervision. Boarding life involves its own traditions like Study Cafés, outdoor movie nights, cooking and baking, inter-dorm competitions, weekend excursions to Amman and major sites around Jordan, delicious brunch in the dining hall, and enjoying time on campus.

Co-Curriculars

Co-curriculars are a critically important element of the student experience in the areas of service, leadership, civic engagement, athletics, and the arts. King's co-curricular program complements our academic offerings and aligns with the athletic seasons to afford students three different activity choices per year to explore and expand their interests.

Real Talk

At King's, students quickly discover how the differences between us enrich our experiences and broaden our horizons. The knowledge and values that King's instills in its students help shape confident, well-rounded individuals and inspire them throughout their life paths as change-makers of a shared future of peace and opportunity.

It is an extraordinary place. At a time when the world seems disproportionately and increasingly divided, this diverse, international community of interested, engaged, warm, and accepting students and faculty feels especially precious.

I had history teachers who transferred decades' worth of knowledge to me through their enthusiastic lecturing. I had English teachers who instilled in me a passion for creative writing, and I had a psychology teacher who instilled in me a curiosity about understanding the scientific nature of the human condition.

My son spent four years here and it was amazing to see how he grew as a person and how much support and attention he received. Everyone, from the security and cook, to the professors and admin staff are amazing—it's like one big family.
