The Power of a King Education

At King School, we nurture curious students who aren't afraid to ask questions, to try something new, or to get it wrong before they get it right.

Students at King School explore the power of wonder and become agents in their own learning. When students are doing, questioning, and making connections — and teachers are creating these moments of discovery — students are truly learning.  This is what King students experience at every grade level and in every discipline. From discovering the world around them in Prekindergarten to crafting complex senior projects in Grade 12, students embrace learning through discovery, exploration, and hands-on experiences.

Every aspect of the King experience prioritizes engagement, from the variety of immersive learning opportunities to intentional efforts to reach every student. True engagement at King reflects the community's commitment to academic excellence.

King recognizes the power of a diverse community, celebrating multiple backgrounds and perspectives. Students learn from each other and become stronger together. King offers opportunities to explore multiple interests, as there is no one type of student here. King graduates leave school full of possibility—ready to succeed and better prepared to better the world.

This high level of engagement leads to the deepest form of learning.

College Counseling

King's college counselors provide a four-year program to empower students, focusing on their passions and ambitions to find the best competitive match. With deep expertise and strong relationships with colleges, they partner with students, parents, and teachers to guide each student, starting in Grade 9, alleviating stress during the process.

Real Talk

King makes it easy to pursue your interests and try new things. There are vast opportunities in the Performing Arts and Athletics, as well as fascinating elective courses. In my experience, I was able to try out woodworking, ceramics, philosophy, anthropology, and primatology while sticking with my passions of playing saxophone in the band and rowing for all four years.

King helped me pursue my passions by encouraging me and giving me the resources to try new things and discover the path I wanted to take in my education. When I was a little kid in the Lower school, I was very quiet and shy in a classroom setting, but as I grew up, King allowed me to see that my opinions and voice should be heard. King has definitely prepared me for college because I have learned time management skills and took classes that challenged me and allowed me to discover who I am as a learner.

King has helped me pursue and explore new passions in numerous ways. King offers a variety of academic distinctions to students, and I took the opportunity to pursue the global studies distinction. Through this, I took classes that explored different global societies, and I did a research capstone project junior year that further piqued my interest in the study of the world. In addition, King's strong athletics program has also allowed me to pursue my interest in field hockey. With the competitive yet inclusive spirit of King athletics, I was able to compete in games and tournaments alongside close friends. King's wide variety of opportunities has allowed me to explore and find new interests in order to develop both academically and athletically.

King has an amazing academic program within a kind, collaborative, and supportive environment. When we first visited the classrooms, we were so impressed with how engaged the students and teachers were. We loved both the look and feel of the campus, and since we came from an international school in London, we appreciated the diversity of the student body. Our three children have developed wonderful relationships with teachers and administrators, which have made a real difference in their growth as students and young adults. Our kids have had exceptional athletic experiences with coaches who have brought out the best in them as athletes and competitors. The school spirit is off the charts and totally contagious. For us as parents, we have been impressed with the wonderful community of families; some of our best friends are fellow King parents.

From the first day of the school year, our three children have adjusted to King incredibly well. Each of them quickly made close friends and began to dive deeply into his or her academic, athletic, and extracurricular interests. It seems as if there wasn't even a transition period. It is as if they have been at the school since kindergarten. If you want your children to attend a school that believes in the growth of the individual in a healthy yet challenging academic environment, send them to King. There is something here for everyone—rigorous academics, top-notch athletics, a broad array of arts, and extracurricular activities.
