Be You. Become Who You Want to Be.
At Kimball Union Academy, you’ll find a transformational education that puts you at the heart of the experience. Your time here begins in an environment where you can be yourself. By feeling an immediate sense of belonging, you’ll find time to explore who you want to become as a learner and as a human being, and we’ll support you every step along the way. It all happens in New Hampshire's scenic Upper Valley, an area that pairs the natural New England environment with a robust cultural center.
Throughout your time here you will benefit from our educational approach, KUA Design, which guides every aspect of the student experience. On the foundation of positive relationships, we leverage the science of how the brain works and learns to create intentionally designed experiences and challenges so that all students feel motivated, engaged, and supported wherever they are on their educational path. Our goal is to unlock joy and develop a sense of agency so students can discover a love of learning in their life experiences at KUA and beyond.
KUA Design
On the foundation of positive relationships, we leverage the science of how the brain works and learns to create intentionally designed experiences and challenges so that all students feel motivated, engaged, and supported. The approach guides every aspect of student life—how they find academic success, navigate social experiences, and work as a team on the playing fields.
Scholar Programs
KUA’s STEM, Global, and Arts Scholar Programs prepare students for lives of leadership in areas of critical importance to our world. Working with faculty, students explore a passion or interest through a two-year course of study that combines coursework, community service, and experiential learning that culminates in a Senior Capstone project.
Athletics
Kimball Union offers a competitive and engaging athletic and recreational program for student athletes looking to progress in their sport. Student-athletes work closely with talented and experienced coaches, utilizing exceptional facilities, and leave KUA with self-confidence, commitment, time management, and leadership skills.
Arts
KUA opens opportunities for students to share their vision and tap into their creativity. Regardless of a student’s previous level of engagement, they’ll find a robust visual and performing arts experience and immersive programming.
Academic Support
The Gosselin Center for Teaching & Learning provides a variety of academic support programs to meet the needs of the rich variety of learners we serve. The goal is to help students identify and develop the skills to become independent and self-sufficient learners while also supporting teachers as they use brain-based, research-supported strategies in their classrooms.
Sustainability and the Outdoors
At KUA, learning is in our nature. Sustainability, the environment, and the outdoors play an integral role in the KUA experience. Our location in the Connecticut River Valley makes us an ideal home base for outdoor recreation and experiential learning in a natural setting. We maintain and extensive on-campus trail network for running, mountain biking, and Nordic skiing.
