What do you want out of high school?

How will you plan your journey?

At Gould, we can help you follow your passions, whatever those may be. Our location in the White Mountains of western Maine gives us a unique outdoor classroom right at our doorstep. Our online learning component gives flexibility to skiers and freethinkers alike.

Want to explore robotics with the school’s Navy-class REMUS submarine in the local pond? Maybe you’d like to explore the school’s 40 kilometers of trails on your mountain bike or build your own skis in the IDEAS Center. Or you could travel to China, Ecuador, Peru, or Tanzania with the Ninth Grade Four Point immersion experience.

Students thrive in Gould’s college prep setting thanks to close, collegial relationships with their instructors and counselors, and a vast network of alumni and visiting professionals who come to campus and work with students each and every year.

Academics

At Gould, we understand that each student is different. Gould's small size, dedicated faculty, and approach to teaching and learning allow us to meet students along their individual continuum of academic and social development. We offer a challenging core curriculum that prepares students for college and beyond.

Four Point Program

A signature program at Gould, Four Point is an integral part of the curriculum that starts in 9th grade and ends upon graduation. Every year, just before spring break, students in each class embark on a journey of self-discovery. Gould students are proud of completing the four points, the full arc of a Gould story.

International Program

Our International Program is an all-encompassing support system that aims to facilitate travel, everyday life, and the adjustment to local culture for students from abroad. The English Studies Program, designed to promote the development of English as a second language, emphasizes reading, writing, and conversational English.

Visual and Performing Arts

Whether throwing a pot on the wheel, soloing in the jazz ensemble, handcrafting a piece of jewelry, or singing in the spring musical, opportunities to find and develop your artistic passions abound at Gould. Our artists have continued on at schools such as the Pratt Institute, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Berklee College of Music.

Athletics

Through dedication, teamwork, and spirited competition our student-athletes achieve their best while also developing a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Coaches and peers are integral every step of the way—our coaching philosophy is centered upon mentorship and experiential learning to help build healthy, strong, and passionate student-athletes.

Snow Sports

What distinguishes Gould from traditional boarding schools is the unparalleled combination of athletic and academic opportunities—especially on snow. A U.S. Ski & Snowboard gold-certified club, our program is designed for student-athletes who want to compete at the highest national and international levels, as well as for students who just want to learn and have fun!

Real Talk

Gould has been a game-changer for my son! The academics challenged him, but dorm life and being on the Nordic ski team has made him into a leader and a responsible person. What Gould has been teaching my son in the classroom, on sports teams, and in the community has been extraordinary!
