Chapel Talks

Every member of the senior class is required to deliver a short talk in front of the whole school as a condition of graduation. These chapel talks raise our community up, remind us of what it means to be human, and challenge us to be our truest selves.

"You don't realize how special this place is until you leave."

"The school's commitment to nurturing individual growth and fostering a supportive community truly sets it apart. Pomfret’s small class size allows for personalized attention, and the diverse array of courses provides freedom to explore a wide range of subjects. This freedom helped to ignite my son’s curiosity and empowered him to pursue subjects of particular interest. As a proud parent, I am thrilled to say that Pomfret not only prepared my son for success in college, but also instilled in him the skills, values, and passion needed to excel in life."

"I had already learned to make my home in a dorm room, make my peers my family, and look to my teachers for guidance outside the classroom. I felt so at ease during my first year at college, all thanks to Pomfret."

"Pomfret offers that rare combination of excellent academics, top-level athletic programming, and a strong sense of community and school spirit. The campus is absolutely beautiful and with 500+ acres the facilities can't be beat. In fact, the facilities are better than most small colleges. The low student-teacher ratio ensures student learning. Pomfret hockey, boys and girls soccer and boys and girls basketball are annually among the top rated prep school teams every year and seem to always make the NEPSAC tournament."

"I had a very positive experience at Pomfret. I made incredible friends and feel like I grew as a person. I certainly did not consider myself an athlete before coming to Pomfret, but I was encouraged to try crew my freshman year and it has become one of my passions (I still row today). The course load is heavy, but Pomfret offers many classes that are not typically offered in high school, and you feel like you get a taste of everything. The feeling of community and togetherness allows you to feel good about trying new things. I think back on my four years at Pomfret often and can't help but smile. I always look forward to coming back to the Hilltop."
